Papa’s buys Scarborough site from Harry Ramsden's

Yorkshire-based fish and chip chain Papa’s has bought Harry Ramsden's seafront restaurant in Scarborough.

The Foreshore Road site, which has been closed since October following a fire, has been part of the Harry Ramsden’s group since 2008.

Papa’s plans to repair the site, reinstating the three-floor restaurant and takeaway ready for the summer.

Papa’s already owns a 420-seat chippy in Scarborough, which it opened in December 2016 and which is less than five miles away from the Foreshore Road site. It also operates four other sites in Bilton, Cleethorpes, Hull city centre and Willerby.

A further site is looking to complete this year with Papa's converting an empty gift shop overlooking Bridlington Harbour into a cafe and takeaway.
