Glasgow based fish and chip operator Blue Lagoon is opening its ninth outlet in the city centre.
Taking over the former Pizza Express premises in Queen Street, the site will undergo a complete refurbishment before opening in the summer with an 80 seater restaurant, a takeaway and a home delivery service.
Bosses say it will create around 25 new jobs.
The announcement comes almost two years after Blue Lagoon last acquired a new site, a takeaway and restaurant at the food court in Glasgow’s St Enoch Centre.
Talking about the timing of this latest news, director Simone Varese says: “The pandemic has opened up more doors for us in regards to more attractive deals than were around pre-covid, for sure. That being said, we have to remain cautious and choose our projects wisely as the entire economy is in a very fragile place just now and will remain so I feel for quite a while.”
As well as its eight sites in Glasgow City Centre, Blue Lagoon also has outlets in Ayr, Largs, Stirling and Perth.
