Surrey Police has issued fish and chip shops across the county with branded chip wrap which carries a message encouraging the public to report suspicions of child criminal exploitation.
The chip wrap features the words “Targeted Tested Trapped. The cycle of child criminal exploitation” and urges anyone who may suspect a young person is being coerced into gang activity to call the police or Crimestoppers. It is part of a larger piece of work the force is doing around serious and organised crime – of which child criminal exploitation is a key strand.
Takeaway bags and chicken boxes designed to complement the chip wrappers are also being launched alongside advertising on ATMs.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police told Fry Magazine: “We are targeting fast food outlets as the research of our target market led us to understand that, for a number of reasons, takeaways are often a favoured way for them to eat.”
