Chippy catches restaurant market with at home boxes

A Glasgow fish and chip shop has launched at home boxes, enabling customers that would normally dine in to enjoy restaurant quality food in the comfort of their own kitchen.

Catch, which operates three sites in the city - Giffnock, Netherlee and West End - is now delivering Catch@Home boxes which serve two people and come with all the ingredients for a two or three course meal ready prepped and par-cooked.

Using the cooking and plating instructions that come with the boxes, customers simply need to finish the dishes off in the oven.

There are three boxes available, classic fish and chips is the cheapest at £30 and includes fresh North Sea haddock, chips, mushy peas, curry sauce and tartare. The chips are part boiled so just need oven baking in some oil along with the fish. Also included is a starter of mac ’n’ cheese balls, and a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake dessert.

There’s also a fish taco box priced at £25, which contains marinated king prawns and crispy strips of haddock wrapped in a tortilla, and a lobster box at £55 which includes fresh Scottish lobster served with a garlic and herb butter, boiled potatoes stuffed with cheddar, and a mixed salad.

The boxes can be ordered Sunday through to Thursday for delivery across Greater Glasgow between 9am-5pm every Saturday. They are also available for click and collect at Catch's Giffnock restaurant.

All three Catch sites are currently open for takeaways but the restaurants were required to close for three weeks on November 20th due to local lockdown restrictions.
