Chippy lands in hot water over Brexit Party free food offer

The owner of a Barnsley fish and chip shop was ordered by police to remove an offer on social media of free food to customers if the Brexit Party won seats in the local election.

David Wood, owner of Woody’s Fish & Chips in Monk Bretton, posted on Facebook that he would “treat” voters to free cod bits and chips if they helped remove the two Labour MPs from their seats in Westminster in favour of its two Brexit party candidates.

South Yorkshire Police received two complaints about the offer, which Woody’s said it would extend to all customers visiting the shop on December 13th. David removed the post but said the offer would still stand.
