National wholesaler JJ Foodservice invited Enfield Council’s newly elected leader (Labour Party)Nesil Calfskin to open its first trade day on Sunday.
Taking place at the group’s headquarters, the event brought Enfield’s restaurants, takeaways and caterers together to sample a range of products and meet manufacturers, including Coca Cola, Innocent Drinks, Britvic, LavAzza, New York Bakery Co and Kerry Foods.
Kingfisher Fish and Chips was also on site, cooking up free mini samples of JJ products from its mobile van Kingfisher on the Go.
Describing how the event is helping local enterprises to flourish, Nesil Calfskin said: “JJ Foodservice is making a major contribution in this area, in providing jobs for hundreds of people. It is a genuine Enfield success story and is a vital part of the food supply chain, which businesses including schools, pubs and hotels in this borough rely on.”
She also applauded JJ Foodservice for its strong social conscience, making significant contributions towards Enfield Council’s aims of promoting healthy eating.
“They are leading the way in backing the Healthy Catering Commitment which aims to reduce obesity levels in Enfield and works with both Enfield Council and businesses to encourage people to consume more fruit and vegetables and reduce the size of takeaway portions,” said Nesil.
Nine more trade days are scheduled at JJ branches across the UK between June and September. All events are free of charge – register by clicking here.
