Free two-hour 'Labelnar' helps comply with Natasha’s Law

Food management platform CaterCloud is hosting a free two-hour ‘Labelnar’ on Thursday 29th July to help caterers become label compliant for Natasha’s Law.

Natasha’s Law, which comes into effect from 1st October 2021, requires all food businesses to provide full ingredient lists and allergen labelling on foods pre-packaged for direct sale (PPDS) on the premises.

For the Labelnar, the company’s resident allergen and nutritional expert Rob Henry will be joined by Julian Edwards, director of Allergen Accreditation, in a fully functional kitchen, showing the reality of what PPDS will look like in the workplace. They will be preparing items that will require labels, such as sandwiches, part wrapped items i.e., muffins and labelling them using its CaterCloud system.

CaterCloud is a free to use allergen, nutrition, menu planning and costing system that will ensure catering operations are allergen compliant ahead of the upcoming law change and which gives the ability to print Natasha’s Law compliant food labels.

Also attending the Labelnar is Laura Hariana, brand manager at Jestic Foodservice Solutions, who is a sufferer of allergies, and will be talking about the importance on hospitality owners getting this labelling correct.

Rob Henry, CaterCloud allergen and nutritional expert, says: “This will be a fun and informative way to get a serious message across – with actual products and environment scenarios. Well worth a couple of hours of any caterer’s time!”

Julian Edwards, director of Allergen Accreditation, adds: “I’ve been on this PPDS journey since well before March 2019 and contributed to consultations on it. Since 2013 we have been standardising allergen labelling on PPDS and now after a wider hypersensitive consumer consultation - they expressed the need for all ingredients to be listed as people can be allergic to all manner of ingredients, and so we are now entering this new era of transparent information for the safety of customers.”

Anyone who attends will also have the option to sign-up for a free one-to-one, half hour guidance session with Rob and Julian.

The ‘Labelnar’ is being held on the 29th July from 10am to 12pm, to register your attendance please click here.
