Fries with a South American twist
Offering an authentic taste of South America is specialist wholesaler Funnybones Foodservice with its new Yuca Fries and Tostones plantain slices.
Tostones are slices of green plantain which have been peeled, sliced and fried before being crushed and then fried again until they are crisp and golden brown.
Served alongside fish and meat dishes, they can also be served as an appetiser, as part of a Tex-Mex sharing platter or as a bar snack. Oven cooked or deep fried from frozen, they come in 1kg packs containing approximately 15 per bag.
Yuca Fries, meanwhile, are made from the tuberous root also known as Cassava. Brown skinned and white fleshed, they make a perfect side to grilled fish or meat sprinkled with salt, pepper and lime juice for a tropical twist.
The frozen Yuca Fries come par-fried ready to be finished in the fryer. They measure approximately 8 x 1.5cm in size and come in packs of approximately 20 weighing 500g.
