JJ launches retro-style bio-degradable fish and chip boxes

Wrapping fish and chips in newspaper may have been banned since the 1980s, but JJ is bringing the retro-vibe back!
A range of food safe boxes has been launched following an exclusive survey conducted by JJ that revealed 45% of UK chippies wanted a newspaper-effect box design and a further 40% wanted biodegradable or compostable options.
The research also shows that when shopping for packaging, price is crucial for 84% of shop owners. This is followed by quality (70%), heat retention (65%) and sturdiness (48%).
JJ’s marketing manager, Omar El-Haj, said: “Our team has been working hard to come up with a design that combines all this feedback.
"The result is a robust, eye-catching box that keeps food hot and crispy while being biodegradable and compostable."
With the Staycation boom expected to benefit UK hospitality, 97% of shops said they expect to need more packaging in 2021.
“We are always adding to our range and will continue to offer quality packaging at great prices,” add Omar.
The easy-to-build boxes are available in 5", 9", 10" and 12", priced from £0.06p per box.
