Leicester shop awarded Good to Go accolade

A Leicester fish and chip shop has been awarded a top accolade for sustainability, winning the Good To Go category at the 2019 Food Made Good Awards.

Chris’s Fish ‘n’ Chips, in Hinckley, was praised by judges for its all-round approach to sustainability which involves adding vegan or vegetarian options to the menu, using takeaway bio boxes, paper bags and wooden forks, inviting customers to bring in their used cooking oil for recycling, and contributing to the upkeep of the local community park.

The award, sponsored by Just Eat, is designed to reward a business whose main focus is takeaway (more than 50%), and which is helping to drive the sector forward in a positive way. Also in the final were Dudley-based Mexican takeaway Buena Comida and Brighton vegan sushi burrito bar Happy Maki.
