Dorset-based fish and chip operator Long John’s has closed its Poole restaurant and takeaway.
The business in Chapel Street shut its doors yesterday (Sunday 2nd February), putting up a notice in the window, thanking its customers and staff.
It reads: “We wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported us over our years of trading, to our loyal customers and a massive thank you to our staff, thank you.”
The Poole site is one of four chippies under the Long John’s brand with branches in Blandford, Wimborne and Warhead as well as several mobile vehicles for event catering. It is owned by the Long family, who started serving fish and chips in Dorset in 1948. The family also owns Harlees, a chain of seven fish and chip restaurants in the south west of England.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed the site had closed but declined to comment as to why.
