Millers' scampi giveaway hopes to drive consumption
Updated: May 26, 2021

Millers Fish & Chips in Haxby, York, is dishing out free portions of scampi this Friday (28th May) as part of a campaign by Love Seafood to drive consumption among families and young adults.
The award-winning chippy has 50 free portions to give away on a first come, first served basis.
Nick Miller, owner of Millers Fish & Chips, said: “We’re so excited to be celebrating scampi this weekend and hope to see lots of locals and visitors popping down to get their hands on a free portion.
“Millers has been a family business for almost 80 years and our scampi has been a firm favourite for many of our customers. I recommend scampi to anyone who wants to try something new. Not only is it easy to share with the family, it goes perfectly with our chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce.”
The campaign by Love Seafood is aimed at encouraging consumers to choose scampi over other breaded products, positioning it as affordable takeaway option.
With 6.3 million UK families buying frozen seafood but only 21% of these currently buying scampi, Love Seafood believes it can capitalise on this market. What’s more, it says children continue to give coated, battered and breadcrumbed product the thumbs up, citing the fact that during lockdown Bird's Eye reported a massive surge across its chicken nuggets, dippers and fish fingers lines.
Scampi giveaways are also in the pipeline for The Fishworks in Largs, Scotland, and Hennighan’s Top Shop in Machynlleth, Wales.
