Police receive 999 call to report missing fish and chips
North Yorkshire Police received a 999 call over Christmas from a woman complaining of receiving the wrong order from her local chippy.
The police station put out a tweet after a lady called in to report she received a sausage despite placing an order for two portions of fish and chips. Staff reminded the public that this was not a 999 call and to use the service only in an emergency.
The tweet has received almost 3,000 likes and more than 200 comments, with many seeing the funny side and joining in the banter. One says “Oh my cod, there’s no plaice for this, let’s not skate around it”, while another said the real crime was the fact the customer hadn’t ordered mushy peas!
