Popular Shap Chippy up for sale

Shap Chippy, a multi-award winning fish and chip takeaway in Shap, Cumbria, is up for sale for £845,000.

Owners Matt and Ashley Phillips bought the business three years ago but are now selling due to personal health reasons.

Under their ownership, the pair has built the chippy up, increasing its trade and its reputation.

The shop came second in the UK’s Best Fish and Chip Takeaway in 2019, it holds Fry Magazine’s Top 50 Takeaways Award 2021 and the NFFF Q Award. It is also ranked number one on TripAdvisor in Cumbria fish and chips and it boasts over 5,000 Facebook followers.

The sale includes a newly-established pizza takeaway, which opened during lockdown, as well as two 70 registration mobile fish and chip vans. All businesses carry a 5 food hygiene rating from Eden District Council.

The fish and chip takeaway and pizza takeaway both benefit from brand new equipment, along with fixtures & fittings, which are all bought and paid for and included within the sale price.

The chippy, pizza takeaway and mobiles operate with a counter service plus an online ordering system via their own apps and branded website which generates 70%-80% of the orders.

The whole business is now 100% cashless and is mainly staff operated.
