Harry Ramsden opens in Malaysia

Harry Ramsden has opened a new pub-style concept at its first site in Malaysia.

The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden has launched at the Resorts World Genting, Genting Highlands - a tourist destination perched on the peak of Mount Ulu Kali that includes world class hotels, shopping malls, theme parks, restaurants and casinos.

The concept has been created specially for Resorts World and is based on the classic pub experience with British interiors and a menu featuring traditional dishes from fish and chips to a full English breakfast to a Sunday Roast.

For guests on the move, the outlet also features a separate Harry Ramsden takeaway counter which will serve freshly cooked fish and chips.

Tom Crowley, Harry Ramsden CEO, comments: “Today’s opening in Malaysia confirms the international ambition we have for Harry Ramsden. The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden will particularly thrill local Malaysian and international guests looking for a real English pub experience. At Resorts World, we're offering a fantastically classic British pub menu, bursting with tasty dishes including our world-famous fish and chips and served in surroundings which symbolise everything that is great about both Britain and Harry Ramsden!”

Dato’ Edward Holloway, executive vice president of leisure and hospitality of Resorts World Genting, adds: “Resorts World Genting attracts visitors from all over Asia and we have introduced many international brands here at SkyAvenue. When we thought of fish and chips from the UK, we thought of Harry Ramsden. We very quickly communicated with them to strike a deal to open The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden. We are proud to say that this is the first and only fish and chips shop of its kind in Resorts World Genting and Malaysia. It is common knowledge that Malaysians love visiting the UK and many have made the trip across the pond. With Harry Ramsden being synonymous with England’s cuisine, having Harry Ramsden here was an easy decision to make.”
