Seafood restaurant group Rockfish is temporarily closing all eight of its restaurants and takeaways amid the spread of Covid - 19.
The closures come into effect from Saturday 21st March and are part of what owner Mitch Tonks says is the business’s “duty” to protect its people, customers and community.
In a statement, Mitch said: “Whilst none of the decisions we are making are easy we are doing so with the aim of protecting jobs within the company. If we can continue to employ our great people through the entire period of closure we will be ready to bounce back once we are out the other side.”
Rockfish insisted it will survive this and encouraged its customers to take the opportunity to spend time at home, reading, cooking, chatting and enjoying family time.
Mitch adds: “We know that every business out there is having it tough and having to take their own course of action, least of all the fishing fleet whose market for the seafood they are catching has quickly dried up as restaurants and ports are closed around the world. We will look forward to better times and raising a glass with you all to celebrate a return to normality.”
Rockfish has outlets in Brixham, Dartmouth, Exeter, Exmouth, Plymouth, Torquay, Poole and Weymouth.
