Ketchup slashes salt and sugar

A new tomato sauce has been launched which contains 75% less sugar and salt than regular ketchup.

Real Good Ketchup, which is available through Savona Foodservice, made its debut into retail two years ago as the first no added sugar and reduced salt ketchup on the market.

Hoping to replicate its success in foodservice, the sauce contains no artificial sweeteners and instead uses plant based ingredients and sugar alternative in the form of xylitol (derived from birch and beech wood) and stevia leaf.

The sauce lived up to its name in recent independent consumer research of 1,000 people, with 75% liking the Real Good Tomato Ketchup taste compared to their regular sauce.

Real Good Ketchup is available in 2kg catering pouches, 315g recyclable squeeze bottles and 285g glass bottles and is accompanied by a no added sugar Smokey BBQ variety.
