A Gloucestershire fish and chip shop is giving its menu a Spanish twist by offering a tapas-style experience.
Simpsons Fish & Chips in Cheltenham is offering 11 different small plates that include cod goujons, battered squid, whitebait or scampi, prawns, halloumi and a Thai fishcake. Vegans are also included with the option of a vegan sausage with ketchup, jackfruit wings, minted pea fritter and frickles.
Available from Monday 29th August, the menu also features four variations of battered chips, including Keleigh’s Posh Truffled Chips, an invention of long-serving manager Keleigh Green, which are served with truffle oil, parmesan and parsley, and The Northener featuring lashings of peppered gravy smothered with melted cheese.
Diners can choose three small plates for £15 or five for £20.
For those craving a sweet finish there’s a choice of two desserts: battered pineapple ring served with chocolate and coconut ice cream or churros with a dusting of cinnamon and salted caramel ice cream.
Owner Bonny Ritchie said: “We’ve been working on this new menu for a while and we’ve had a lot of fun doing it. Everyone has got involved and we love the variety that it brings. The small plates are perfect for sharing and who doesn’t love eating great tasting food with friends and family?”
