Updated: Jan 30, 2019

Name: Shannon Foster

Job Title: Counter assistant

At: Cromars, St Andrews, Fife

Age: 18

Nominated by: Kirsty Adams, manager at Cromars, who says: “Shannon is a very hard working enthusiastic employee. She covers extra shifts at short notice and delivers high quality customer service to our customers even in busy peak times. In fact, she has just this month won our employee of the month award!

How long have you worked at Cromars for?

I have worked at Cromars since April 2017. A friend recommended me for a job, which lead to a trial and, well, I must have been OK as I am still here almost two years later!

What are your responsibilities?

Customer service, cash handling, food handling, restocking my work area and cleaning to ensure a high level of service and standards are met.

What's your favourite part of the job?

Interacting with the public when taking their orders and when preparing their takeaway.

What's the least favourite part of the job?

Dealing with particularly difficult customers and the washing of my uniform!

What is it you like about working at Cromars?

Firstly, meeting and speaking to the customers. As Cromars is located in St Andrews, a cosmopolitan town, our customers are very diverse and interacting with them all can make it very interesting as no shift is the same. Secondly, I love working alongside my colleagues. We’re a small team so we’re more like a family than work colleagues. We spend a lot of time with each other and I enjoy getting to know everyone.

How do you feel about being nominated as an unsung hero?

It is great to hear that my dedication and work ethic is recognised.
