Nominated by: Tiffany Irvin, owner of The Fish Works, who says: “Alex is a great member of our team. She began working on the till and now covers all areas of the shop. She is dedicated to the job and always comes in with a smile. Her customer service is brilliant and she always goes the extra mile to ensure every customer leaves happy. As all our food is cooked to order, it takes good organisation to ensure everything is running smoothly and Alex works well under the pressure, even on mad busy days she is composed and still smiling.

How long have you worked at The Fish Works?

I’ve worked here for two years now. My friend worked here and she recommended me for the job. I began on the till but then learned how to work in other aspects of the shop.

What are your responsibilities?

My responsibilities are to take orders from customers, ensuring food is being prepared to coincide with the orders as all food is cooked to order, environmental health recording, salt and vinegar the food to the customers' preferences, help to keep the shop clean and make sure there is plenty of stock.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

My favourite part of the job is working with my colleagues and seeing customers satisfied with their visit to The Fish Works.

What's your least favourite part of the job?

I have no real least favourite part of job!

What is it that you like about working at The Fish Works?

It’s always a fun environment to work in as we all get on well, which makes it a happy place to work.

How do you feel about being nominated as an unsung hero?

I was a little embarrassed when I heard it was going to be for Fry Magazine but also happy that Tiffany and Ross appreciate my work in The Fish Works!
